Troy Porchfest returns Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the city's Southwest Historic District, and it is one of the most family-friendly music events on the Oakland County calendar. Forty bands perform on forty porches throughout the neighborhood, creating a walking tour of live music that spans genres from folk and bluegrass to rock, jazz, and indie. Admission is free and open to everyone.

The format is simple. You walk from porch to porch, listening to whatever catches your ear. The neighborhood is residential and walkable, making it a natural fit for families with strollers or kids who need to move around. Many residents set up lawn chairs on their front yards, and the whole event has a block-party atmosphere rather than a traditional festival feel.

Porchfest started as a grassroots concept in Ithaca, New York, and has spread to communities across the country. Troy's version has grown each year, with the 2026 lineup featuring forty acts spread across the afternoon and evening. A map of participating porches and bands is typically published on the Troy Main Street website in the days leading up to the event.

Parking is available on nearby streets and in lots near the district. The event is rain or shine, though individual porches may have covered or indoor options if weather turns.
