Troy's Emergency Vehicle Trunk-or-Treat takes place Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Troy Police Department at 500 West Big Beaver Road, and it is a free family event geared to children 12 and under. Trick-or-treating happens out of the trunks of emergency vehicles, with police cars, fire trucks, specialty units, and community partners set up for families to walk through.
The event is designed for young children who are still learning what first responders do, which makes it as much about meeting the vehicles and the people behind them as it is about candy. Troy Recreation lists the event on the city's official recreation calendar and describes it as free and family-friendly, with families welcome to arrive in costume for the evening walk.
Because the event runs on a weekday evening, the 5 to 8 p.m. window works for families with early bedtimes, and the police department campus provides a well-lit setting. The Emergency Vehicle Trunk-or-Treat is one of several Halloween events on Troy's calendar this month, alongside the Frightful 5K and Pumpkin 1K at the Troy Community Center on Sunday, October 25, and the two give families two very different ways to celebrate.
