Portland Leather Goods Opens in Downtown Birmingham

Portland Leather Goods has opened a retail store in downtown Birmingham at 157 West Maple Road, in the space where Revive previously operated, and the company's own store locator lists the location as open. The Oregon-based brand sells leather bags, wallets, belts, and accessories made in its own factory and priced factory-direct, which is the company's signature approach and a big part of why it has built a national following.

The Birmingham store is the brand's first in Metro Detroit, and it joins a stretch of Maple Road that has added new retail through 2026. Design Within Reach moved into 214 West Maple over the summer, Cherry Republic opened at 243 West Maple in the fall, and this blog has separate guides to both of those openings. For families, the shop functions best as a gift and errand stop: it sells items that travel well for grandparents and out-of-town relatives, and it sits within a short walk of Old Woodward, Shain Park, and the restaurants of the downtown district.

Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., as posted on the company's retail page, and holiday-season hours can shift, so that page is the place to check before making the trip.

The opening lands right before the downtown holiday season, when the Santa Walk and Small Business Saturday on November 28 and the Winter Markt weekend of December 4 through 6 fill the same streets. Families already downtown for those events now have one more permanent retail tenant on the same walkable block.
